The Fall From Illr
(2023)
Plot Summary
The Fall From Illr is a real-time motion capture performance using the power of Unreal Engine 5 to explore the relationship between humanity and technology. Inspired by the biblical story of Adam and Eve, "The Fall From Illr" desires to provide a space for the audience to reflect on their own loss of innocence and the regret that comes with irreversible truth while also providing commentary on society's relationship with technology: Do we see original sin in the digital realm? How far will technology progress before humanity is entirely lost?
Project Description
Illr was created at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts as the final performance for the Game Engines class. It used Unreal Engine 5 for environment building and camera setups. It fed into the motion capture software, Motive, for the real-time streaming to projectors.
