Project Description
Scentimedics was created at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts to compete in the Biodesign Challenge in New York City. Over the course of the semester, the team collaborated with L.A.-based scent artist, Kendra Gaeta, to create scents based on the moods of people who experience particular sleeping disorders. It was selected as the runner-up to compete in the NYC Biodeign Competition.
Plot Synopsis
As the world's first scent-based medical training program, Scentimedics teaches people to detect the VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) in others' sweat allowing them to identify and diagnose sleeping disorders. This speculative set-up aims to educate its participants about hidden disabilities and create a sense of empathy for the struggles in others you can't see.
